In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a large garbage dump, in which the eccentric Rufus ekes out his sorry existence. He is part of the lower social class, doomed to live his life in literal mountains of trash .

He waits for an opportunity to enter the world of the rich, who live in a city floating above the clouds. Fate seems to smile on the brat is useless when one day sexy lady called Meta upper sector falls into one of the piles of garbage. Rufus decides to help the young woman take her back to her husband. When he realizes that the husband of goals is an exact copy of itself, it hatches a diabolical plan to access the upper world.
